Hi all, I'm Matt and I'm 21 and live in Stockport

I plan on doing my CBT at the end of this month after pay day and buying my first bike the month after. Very excited to get riding been something I've wanted to do for a while but never had the funds to do so until my new job started a few weeks ago! Already picked out the bike I want which comes with a helmet, jacket and gloves too.

Hi Matt,
This is good news, you are an A2 trainee then :-)
I know a good training school for you

Let us know how you go on

What's the difference between A2 and CBT?

Quiet a lot...
CBT only allows you to ride a 125cc providing you are 17, with L-Plates and no passenger or motorway riding.
You need a CBT to carry on for your full license.
As you are only 21 you can only take the A2 practical test, which is your full license..A2 is on a bike 395cc and above with no more power than 47bhp
After having the A2 for 2 years you can the upgrade to DAS by taking the practical tests on a 595cc

I think thats it in a nutshell :-)

Aha well thanks very much, the bike I'm buying is a 125cc anyway and hoping it'll last me at least a few years and by then I should be able to afford a better and more well known brand named bike once I've got my full license (or wherever I'm at by then). The bike I'm getting is a Keeway Speed 125, it comes with a helmet (Viper RS-33 4 star) but I think I'm going to buy a more expensive one, I like the look of these two:

Hi Matt,

Those helmets look nice, but bear in mind the most important thing when buying a helmet is that it fits you properly!

This will be covered as part of your CBT, but this is a good video showing you what you're looking for: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXDes3AQvP4.

If you're looking to save money by buying online, find someone who sells the same helmet and go and try it on, then make your excuses, leave and by online with confidence it will fit OK! 8-)
Life is a journey, not a destination, relax and enjoy the ride!

Oh the shop I linked above is local to me so I'll be going to get in person to make sure I get the right size, I went there with a friend to get his helmet last year and they gave him a few sizes to try on and made sure he got a perfect fit :D
